Weekend Intensive: Balinese Dance
taught by Balinese artist-in-residence Ni Ketut Arini

*No class Feb 3 for Dance Intensive, March 10, and May 5 for premiere of WARNA
Appropriate for dancers of all backgrounds, this intensive weekend workshop will focus on movement vocabulary of Bali’s rich dance traditions, with an emphasis on integration with music, characterization through movement. Ni Ketut Arini will utilize choreographies she developed "Tari Dasar" ("Dance Fundamentals") to establish proper technique and dramatic expression of the dance.
NI KETUT ARINI, (Guest Dance Director), is one of Bali’s most well-known and well-loved performing artists, and an expert on classical Balinese female style dance. She has played a central role in the evolution of twentieth century Balinese dance.
