Gamelan Sekar Jaya is thrilled to return to favorite venue Ashkenaz on Friday, December 15th! This time, featuring two bronze ensembles: the virtuosic Gong Kebyar and the rare, delicate Semar Pegulingan. The program will include both traditional pieces (like the showstopping Taruna Jaya) and new innovations composed for Gamelan Sekar Jaya by visionary composer and 2023-2024 Guest Music Director Ni Nyoman Srayamurtikanti. The bronze ensembles are joined at this performance by Gamelan Sekar Jaya's dancers, led this season by senior ensemble members Shoko Yamamuro, Casey Lee, and Monali Varaiya.
The show begins at 8:00pm and will take place indoors with limited seated provided for audience members. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. You can purchase them now through the Ashkenaz website or by clicking on the button below.
