Balinese Dance for Kids

In this three week series of in-person classes, longtime Sekar Jaya dancer and teacher, Casey Lee will guide youth through the fundamentals of Balinese Dance. This includes an introduction to the proper “agem” or poses, body positioning and basic movements simplified for younger dancers.

Youth of all genders and a wide range of ages are welcome. All class participants are required to be fully vaccinated and to wear masks while inside the GSJ banjar community center. These classes may sometimes take place outside in the outdoor patio area of the banjar building, depending on the weather.

Register at sliding scale rates for all three sessions.

Casey Lee has been studying and performing Balinese dance since the age of seven. Having studied with some of Balis most accomplished dance teachers, she has developed a strong technical base in Balinese dance technique, and a deep love of the art. In addition to dancing for Gamelan Sekar Jaya, she is also a member of the Balinese music and dance group, Burat Wangi, and the Javanese music and dance group, Kyai Doro Dasih.
